HaSu Chicopee is one alpaca maiden that is as cute as she is special. With parents that carry superbly fine, consistent fleeces, she is blessed with an exceptional handle to hers. A long staple length, low micron, and high degree of uniformity combined with a minimum amount of medullation give Chicopee a very luxurious fleece. From head to toe, this beautiful light fawn alpaca is adorned with a cloud of softness. Add in her large, yet graceful size, and you have the ideal fibered alpaca--you are presented with superb fleece, and due to her size, lots of it.
Chicopee's dam and sire are both known for their fineness and uniformity, traits that are commonly associated with their bloodlines. Her dam, TAF Chanel, is ½ Accoyo and comes from the legendary Accoyo Auzengate line, via her sire, Peruvian Accoyo Chimbote. Chimbote is a highly decorated alpaca known to have superior fineness. He also stands out for his exceptional conformation, coverage and unbelievable density--he shears nearly 13 pounds, and this does not include his leg fiber.
On Chicopee's sire side, we have our very own Shamokin, one of the last sons of the now deceased studmaster male El Toro. Like his famed sire, Shamokin presents the image of the ideal alpaca with a full, well-formed topknot, covered cheeks, excellent coverage and a bold upright frame. He also is blessed with El Toro's admirable trait for maintaining their very low micron well into maturity. At the advanced age of 14 years, El Toro was measuring a fineness that would beat many yearling males. And as it appears, Shamokin is on the same track to retaining his fineness as he ages.
With these excellent genetics for fleece and conformation, there is no question how Chicopee turned out to be the beauty she is. We look for her to be a solid producer of high quality cria that carry uniformly fine fleeces on text-book perfect frames. She will be bred in the Fall of 2011 to our studmaster Artero son, NWA Ltd. Mohican, whose EPD's rank him right up their with the best of the best. Once Chicopee is confirmed bred, her price will raised to reflect her status as a bred alpaca.
